Bunuba Cultural Enterprises (BCE) is the new trading name of Bunuba Films Pty Ltd. The change was made to reflect a new direction for the company in the aftermath of the highly successful Jandamarra Returns tour.
We will continue to pursue touring possibilities for the Jandamarra stage play, and to work towards production of the feature film. However our portfolio of activities will expand to include other arts related projects that represent and promote Bunuba culture, promote and develop the careers of Bunuba artists and promote the use of Indigenous languages.
BCE will also undertake cultural maintenance programs for the Bunuba people and contribute to their native title and land use and management activities and create employment and enterprise opportunities for Bunuba people.
In line with mission of developing and promoting opportunities for Bunuba talent BCE has run an auditions workshop, under the tutelage of actor Peter Docker, that led Bunuba actors through the requirements of contemporary auditions and positioned them with portfolios and the required skills to undertake on-line auditions. In November, in partnership with Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company, BCE conducted script and performance workshops in Broome to develop two new theatre projects featuring Emmanuel James Brown (EJB) and Patsy Bedford (Ngalu).
